275's?

I did a search about front tires and I read that people with 275s say they had problems with them tracking the road and things like that. Do a lot of people run 275s in the front? the wheels i'm looking at on American Muscle recommend 275s for the front and 315s for the rear (17x9s and 17x10.5s). Should I go smaller? I wanted to get all of the tires from American Muscle so they could mount and balance them

my KDWII's dont track the road from what i can tell, but they do spread a lot of meat on unlike 555's so they stick out a bit. If i had off set rims and couldnt rotate like i can now (i.e. 9" and 10.5") i'd go 255-265. Tho on new gen's i believe you have a lil bit more fender than I

my 265's track like a bitch. i dont really see any point in going bigger than 255's or 265s in front....just more money down the hole.

i get 25-30% more life from roating my tires Plus 265's dont cost less than 275's and close to 255's where i get mine

true. thats understandable. i didnt take into account 4 of the same size rims... rotating tires is definitly a nice plus... hell my dads ss camaro had 275s on all 4 corners from stock till we sold it. lol

in fact, when I switched the fronts from 255's to 275's the car drove much better...

Why get big tires up front. I would say stay at 245s or go 255s. Then out back go with 275s or 315s.

Cobras come stock 275s up front. I have them and it feels much better than 255s.

My buddy has 275s on front and 315s out back. I think it handles great.

I have 275/35/18's on the front and 305/35/18's on the back. My car feels "heavier" when driving.

Then again, my old setup was 255/35/18 (front) and 275/35/18 (rear). I guess it's a given that my car would feel "heavier" to drive (i.e. slower).

I had the same complaint at first with the 275s but I realized it was mainly the tire. I was running the crappy Sumitomos 275 in front and 315 in back. Things tracked like crazy especially as they started wear. I just replaced the fronts with some BFG g-force sports and they feel tons better. I don't notice the tracking as much. Go with a better brand tire and you wont regret it. They were only like $350 for the two mounted and balanced.

I used to run 17x8 konig villian's with 245 nitto 555s in front,
17x9 and 275s in the back.

I drive I95 in connecticut which is terrible and has rediculous tire rivets/ruts from all the traffic. I would feel all sorts of tire tracking on roads like this, though wouldn't experience any problem on smoother roads.

I have upgraded to Cobra R's 18x9 up front and rear with new 275 Nitto 555s all around and can tell you first hand that the tire tracking much improved with 275s on all 4 wheels.

There is something about the extra width too, that I notice even less road tracking with my 275s than I do in the winter with my 245 snow tires on 17x8 (x4 wheels).

Feel confident going with 275's x 4 wheels and they do make a difference.
My tires grip like crazy and I don't even have springs.

i have run 275s all around from day 1 (that is, after my crappy gatorbacks) with no problems. my tires dont track, and i enjoy the extra grip up front, especially as a corner carver. ive had kuhmo ecsta supra, kuhmo asx, and bf goodrich g-force sport in that order. each tire better than the previous.

Sorry but 275's in the front really isnt necessary. Whats the point of adding extra weight and alot more tire bulge and flex in the front? I run a 9" rim up front and my 245/40/18's fit perfect and there is very little sidewall flex and this results in a much more predictable car and better input/feel. Thats my 2 cents, and i think wider than a 265 is a complete waste up front UNLESS you really wanna run 275's out back and rotate all 4 as well.

Yes you can put 275's on a 10.5" rim.

hey everyone .. i figured i would beign this thread back up ratehr than startign a new one .. i plan on running 275's in the front .. with an eibach sportline kit .. so thast a pretty good drop .. anyone have this setup? .. would i be looking at any rubbing issues, on a 97 cobra?
