I have a 1983 hatch with a drag rear suspension setup. It came with 28" x 10.5" x 15" M/T slicks mounted using a +/- 1/4" spacer and very long, thick wheel studs and Weld Drag Lites. Even though I bought the car this way it doesn't seem like they are close to fitting. Has anyone ever gotten this much rubber into the stock wheel wells? No quad shocks. Light rubbing on inside of wheel well both sides of car. Thanks.

i've never heard of that big of a tire going on a stock stang with out cutting the wheel wells..

I have 28" slicks on mine, but u will have to roll or cut the fender lip and beat the hell out of the inner fender well! They still rub every now and again on big bump. Oh yeah and u will definately need the 1/4" spacer.

Yep, cut the lip on the wheel well, use 1/4" spacers and some slight massaging on the inner well with a big hammer. I run the 28 X 15 MT slicks on my 85' BBF coupe with Drag Lites with 5.5 backspacing and with doing what I described above I had no problems at all.

They will fit. But like 306notchback You will have to roll the lips and massage the inner fender wells. I was running a 28 x 12.50 x 15. Since mine is a GT I had to cut some of the body molding ot get it not to rub. But here are some pics
