you will have no problem! I have 315/35's on my 98..and they barely rub...and I have heard from others on newer body styles, it isn't a problem at all.

Did I understand this right? You want to put 285's on a 10.5 inch rim? Shoot, most people put 285's on a 9 inch rim. They shouldn't have a problem with rubbing, but why don't you want 315's?

it'll handle better, or go with 295/35/17s and a 9.5 in wide wheel. you wont have a problem with rubbing if you get the correct offset, wich most bullit wheels allready have.

My Q is who mounted them? No shop that I know of would mount a 285/40 on a 8" rim. I cant imagine it fitting at all. They would tell you to go get a 9".

Sadly, it's been done. My friend with a 2000 GT and the stock rims got the Shine Brothers Goodyear here to mount his 285's that were previously on his 9 inch Cobra rims (he broke a rim fishtailing, and his axle! lol) on his stock 8 inch rims. It looked like crap.

I have 315/35R17 Nittos DRs they are alittle narrower than others, I will go with BFG DRs after the nittos.

P.S. No problems, how much are the 285s
