I was curious if that is even possible?

I've seen a guy that has a 289 intake manifold, the edelbrock performer 289, and says its a 302? as far as I know his stang isnt bored or anything.

does that make sense>? or if your car is a 4.9 liter, do u get the 289 intake manifold?

can someone explain this to me!

i dont really understand i get your saying can a 289 intake fit a 302, but what year and stuff, by 4.9 do u mean the 5.0's? in general i think a 289 could fit on a 302 not sure what else to say, im kind of confused

basically, under what conditions would an 289 intake manifold go into a 302 engine? mid 80's.

what would be the reason? if the 289 intake can go into the 302, is the purpose of putting that in the 302 to be cheaper as opposed to buying a 302 performer intake?

I guess so. A 289 and a 302 have the same deck height so they are basically the same motor except for a diffrent crank and rods....etc...
So you could interchange a 298 intake on a 302 or vice versa.

yea thats what i thought i didnt want to say anything but like in older stangs my dad has alot, a 289 and a 302 are almost the same, some people even call like a 289 hipo a 302, it should fit tho, that also why u can change a classic 289 stang to efi with a few changes of like a 5.0 intakes, and some other changes like distributor and wires and stuff

302 and 289 intakes are interchangeable. 260 intakes also interchange. 255 intakes physically fit, but have smaller runners. 351 w intakes do not fit. Not sure, but I think 221 intakes will also at least bolt on. The exterior architecture of the blocks are identical, 221, 260, 289, 302, with some caveats, like 5 and 6 bolt bells, etc.

I am almost 100% sure all 302's before 87 will take the 289 intake and heads.

The Edelbrock Performer 289 will fit a 302, It is just old. They work well, got a buddy running one with ported e7's, AOD 4.10's,Edelbrock Cam, and a 780 Holley. Runs 12.9-13.2
