What modifications need to be made to run a late style roller cam in a 289. Also, the cam has .555 lift, will there be any valve clearance problems with E7's and standard dual valve relief TRW pistons?

The cam is a Comp XE266HR in case someone is interested.

You need to get CRANE cams special retro lifters for this setup. I did the same thing and went roller in a early 302 block. the roller lifter will cost you about $400.00. This was 2 years a go, maybe another cam company sells them now also. You should have no problem if you have the TRW pistons with 555 lift as I went a little higher than that with TRW
BUT CHECK IT first as TRW might have changed there depth. Also check your pushrod length and go with roller rockers to. Hope you have headers, if not then installing this cam will do you little good.
Remember that old saying---- HOW FAST DO YOU WANT TO GO--
HOW MUCH MONEY DO YOU HAVE!

In addition to the linkbar lifters, you'll need a steel distributor gear, and a hardened cam retainer plate. Then new custom pushrods. Going to cost you about $600 to convert to roller in a non roller block. Hardly a cost effective mod.
