Good one day, bad the next.

Yesterday as I was coming home, my car started shuddering (as if I had let out on the clutch to fast) like it was losing power. I pulled over and it stopped, so I kept on going. It did this about 3 times. I got the car home and now it wont start. I know its something to do with ignition. I have plenty of gas in the tank and if I move the throttle I can see fuel shooting into the carb from the accelerator pump.

Nothing seems to work, even if I hot wire the coil (wire from battery directly to coil). I checked the wire from the key and I have 11.8 volts going to the coil. I replaced the coil, rotor and set the points (.017). Could it be the condenser?

Any thoughts are much appreciated, I'm running out of things to check.

I would put a clear plastic fuel filter in line so you can see the gas moving just to be sure. Could be some debris causing a blockage/low fuel flow issue.

Test the ignition system. Do you have a timing light ? Check the plugs to make sure they aren't coated with oil/grime. Test the resistence in your spark plugs wires. Also check that the signal wire from the dizzy to the coil is in good shape.
