Az
got a carb from a yard and was wondering if i should just rebild it or if i should hook it up and see if it works, im leaning tords rebuild but i dont really wanna screw something up. also what all will i need, other than the carb kit.

it is a carter afb competition series, the guy at checkers told me he thought it was a 600 cfm but he wasnt sure, and i looked for about 2 hrs trying to match the part numbers but i SUCK at the whole search thing....if i give a pic will that help determine the shape its in, it looks alright to me but im still new to this whole good parts/bad parts thing

I have limited experience with Holleys and absolutely none with Carters, so my advice kinda stopped at "they seem to get questionable after drying out."

You could give it a try before rebuilding it and probably not hurt anything. Just do it on a cold engine in case it starts leaking gas.

Go ahead and try it keep the air filter breather on it when you first start it in case of fire, pull the coil wire and check for leaks first by turning engine over
( wont start without coil wire)

well got the intake changed out, need to get a spacer and a few plugs, so it will eather be tonight or tomarrow before i get her runing agin, im trying to find the old pis of the engine so i can give a before and after.
