2v to 4v swap - search is not my friend

searching did not help me at all i found a bunch of 5.0 swap threads.

anyone who's taken a 99+ and swapped in a 99/01 (or 03 if that is relevent to me) please tell me what is involved. i know i will need the 99/01 motor i plan to go with obviously but what else, does the kmember work?

-if i choose to go tubular kmember, do i buy one for a cobra?
-will my suspension (coilovers) still work?
-i will need new longtubes im pretty sure, what about motor mounts? i could probably just go energy suspension poly mounts anyway
-i also am assuming i will need the ECU and harness for a 4v
-does anything else get changed, (ie. new radiator, anything relocated?)
-how difficult of a job is this?

i would also like to add a t56 and a vortech at the time of the swap so it'll be a decent buildup for me, should i opt for a stock 99/01 motor or a built one, which would be more beneficial? i am not power hungry for 700 horses or anything like that, but a nice cobra motor with a vortech strim on it will do the job nicely for me.

The swap is time intensive. My suggestion would be just to get a set of MPF stage 2.5 heads. They flow anything you will ever throw at them and you will save thousands over the swap. t56 can be had on the 2vs as well. You could save the money from the swwap and actually build a 650 hp 2v for the same price.
 
i think everything that works with GT, such as k-menber or oil over would work fine. DOHC will bolt up fine too. 'cept you need new flywheel, and clutch assembry, and new header if you have one for GT. Radiater would work, but prolly wanna upgrade it anyway.
I think biggest issue with DOHC swap is maily electrical. You'll certainly need new ECU, And new harness. There used to be a site explain how to run few wires so that u can use GT harness. But site is no longer up. that was one of most well written 2V to 4V swap how to...

right but it wont sound like a 4v, plus i think it would be awesome to pop my hood and see a snake motor under there. i know the t56 will work a few guys in the area have them on their 2v, i just want to do a beefy upgrade over this slow 2v

i read a few threads that said you can use your 2v harness but you will need to get it remapped for the cobra tune. i believe my clutch/flywheel should work because i have the 8bolt being that its a 99. i would probably go with a vortech with aftercooler. i saw a guy who also used a fluidyne heat exchanger as well, i would like to find out how that worked using two cooling systems?? a friend just mentioned that 2v to 4v swap site, i wish i could track that down.

everything suspension in the front end will be fine, no need to change anything. aside from the engine its self, everything from the GT will bolt up to the 4v. i think the only exception is the alternator which i believe just needs a differnt bracket... that is the one factor i cant seem to get confirmation on.

to make your life easy, get a 99 or 01 cobra harness and call it a day. yes you can start cuting into the stock GT harness... but unles you are really good with wires, ten save time and headache and just get the 4v harness. SCT as well as most major tuners are capable of setting a tune for a 4v on a GT computer. you do NOT need a custom tune, or the cobra computer.

you will need the entire intake track for the cobra (oem or aftermarket) and exhaust (at least headers and a custom midpipe [or altered GT]). flywheel and clutch are dependant on weather it came from an automatic or a manual, automatics can use the GT flywheel and clutch... manuals are larger and need the cobra version of said items.

any tranny that works on the GT works on the cobra motor.

as far as the motor and performance, please tell me you are keeping the mustang NA... its been proven that when going FI the gap masssivly narrows, in particular with positive displacement blowers, such as KB and eaton. if you stay NA then you will notice all the difference. if you plan to go FI, then just get a shortblock for the 2v and save a lot of time and money.

i would like to go vortech. a better breathing 4v motor would take more advantage of normal boost settings on a strim than a 2v. i dont want to do the built motor 700hp route, atleast not yet. a stock 99/01 4v with a 8-10psi procharger or vortech would be fine by me. id like to have a 4v motor under the hood for both the sound of it and the cool factor.
