I wanna put new axle gears in my car. Will the 3.73s make it really noisy on the highway and kill the gas mileage? I went to my local speed shop and they said that 3.55s were a waste of time and to get 3.73s, but I wanted to get the opinion of people who actually have them

on modulars 3.55's are not even an option! 3.73 minimum and 4.10 for real fun. Gas mpg won't change much at all unless you are stomping on it alot. No noise should be present at all unless you get a crappy gear install.

Dont even consider 3.55s, You will be switching them out for 3.73s or 4.10s. For me and my 4.10s, gas milage hardly changed. Now if your stomping on it everyday then, yes, you will get crappy mileage.

sorry about the repost, and thanks for the replies i'm going to go with the 3.73s. Should I take them to a tranny shop for the install? and what are some installation prices you guys paid because the speed shop by me quoted me $600 for the gears installed, which is outrageous because I found the FRPP gears for 95 bucks

Dunno where you found FRPP gears for $95 new, but let me know so i can buy them and sell a whole bunch on Ebay for 175 . My shop charged me $420 for gears and they included all parts and fluids, so $600 is way to much,
