i just got my 3.73 gears installed, trac loc rebuilt, and new bearings. i drove 20 miles and let rest for 30 mins. then drove 20 miles and let rest for 30 mins. drove 25 miles and let rest for 40 mins. then drove 30 miles and let rest for 45 mins. and finally drove 30 more miles and let rest for 4 hours. how much more of a break in is required? should i go the exttra 350 miles before i get on it? i didnt break 55 when i did the break in either. or im i good to go?

You were MORE than good the first time you did your 20 mile cruise, then 30 minute rest thing. Thats what I did with my 4.30's but not to break in the gears, but to give the bearings a heat cycle. This is what I was told by my buddy who helped me with the install.

I also believe in several heat cycles before beating on em

I know many don't do that ... I'm just a cautious kinda guy

What's up Grady? After all that trouble to put mine in and had no problem following those instructions....it would be bad to wreck the gears right off the bat....lol

Same, it isn't really the gears you have to worry about flexing or warping. It's the bearings.
