3.73 Install

300k miles? You should replace your axle bearings and seals. I agree, rebuild the traction lock. Use new carrier bolts. You should go for the better Ford install kit with the gt500 pinion bearing and crush sleeve.

LMRS sells a great kit and you get a Stangnet discount

If you haven't bought the gears yet, I'd suggest this kit as it is cheaper than piecing it together and are Ford gears.

Agreed redo the entire thing.

Also find a competent shop to do the install. Rears IMO fall under the advanced category. Screw it up and it will whine and you could ruin the entire thing.

I'll assume you are trying to do this on some type of budget considering you want to use explorer gears that are used (which i don't suggest). If you want to do gears right you can throw that budget out the window.
