Can anybody tell me if a 3.73 Trac-Loc in my 2001 V6 Auto will work I have a 7.5in rear end obviously but my car is in storage due to the bitchin cold winters in michigan and I would like to put a better set of gears in it. It would also be helpful i you could PM the steps involved i due have experiance with rear end swaps and gear changes but i just want to know if there is any tips or tricks invloved with a mustang. TY

It will work fine. Consider 4.10's as well, unless you already have or are dead-set on using 3.73's. You will need a flash tuner (or possibly a speed-cal device) to recalibrate your speedometer/odometer, regardless of which ratio you choose.

Are you doing the gear change yourself?

yea ill be doing it myself with my grandpas lift at his farm i was going to do 4.10 but i want some mileage and im planning on boosting it this next winter.

I used the Ford shop manual when I did a gear change on a '66 Mustang. There may be someone on here who knows some other techniques that work just as well. Good luck, it's a meticulous job but not one that you can't do yourself if you have all of the required special tools.

Shouldn't be too tough if you have prior experience. It's simply a lot of disassembly and reassembly. Make sure you have the correct pinion depth or you could have problems.

see i debating between a 3.73 Trac-loc and a Auburn LSD any preferences from anyone? I like the LSD idea but FRPP i know for a fact will work perfect for the car.

I'd go FRPP or Eaton.
