Well, I have to drive back and forth to school once a week or so. Highest speed I go is 70, thats 5 over. I only go faster if passing. higher gears give you more oopmh. the higher the number the faster acceleration you get but the lower top end. also the higher the gears the more your gas mileage suffers because the higher gears cause your car to cruise at higher rpms than it normally would. i dont know about auto but a stock 5spd @ 60mph is running at 1800rpms, swap in 4.10 gears and your now cruising @ 60 at 2400 rpms. the most popular choice is 3.73 for manuals and 4.10 for autos. this is because the autos come with higher gears stock(3.55 i believe?) than the manuals do. hope that helps a littlesoonerkid_68 said:good post! thanks for the info.
