hello , i hope someone can help with this one. i have recently done a 3.8 replacement with a slight bit of rebuild req'd and in the process did not mark the cam sensor position. this did not phase me at the time thinking that there would be some normal set up procedure for it. the manuals all say the same thing,MARK IT BEFORE TAKING IT APART. big help, huh? checked with mitchell on demand and that didn't turn up much better info. it said to mark it and if not you would need ford tool # blah blah blah to reposition it once again. if someone out there happens to know the relationship of the sensor to the wheel inside that would be great. is it parallel or perpendicular? to the left or right? my only other means of solving this is to find one complete and take a look while at top dead center. thanks in advance for any help.

Unless someone here has a 'trick' up their sleeve I don't know about, you're going to need that tool. Taking guesses on its orientation is only going to lead to bigger problems..I'm sure you dont want pre-det and burned out O2 sensors. I'd rather be safe than sorry.
