I finally got around to ordering some tailpipes for my car. The only 3" pipes I could find were from Flowmaster and designed for a Fox. I read online that they would fit, and what do you know they actually fit!! It took me a while to get them installed, but it was definitely worth it. It sounds sooo much better now. My car is almost quiet now! Inside the car, at least. ;)

I still need to do a little work to make it fit just right. One side sticks out farther than the other side. And my mufflers need adjusted up. I just about didn't make it back into my garage because the mufflers are too low now. :(

Here's a few pics. I'll get some better ones tomorrow when it's light out. And I might even get a short video. :)

Here's a couple blurry pics. I'll get some better ones after I get the pipes straightened out and the car cleaned up. I was too tired after work tonight to do anything with it.

I'm using a universal Kooks x-pipe. I had the mufflers mounted too far back, so I had to cut about 2" off my mid pipe. I also had to cut about 1/2" off the tailpipes where they connect to the mufflers. It's a very tight fit. I may need to do a little more cutting to get them exactly where I want them, but I'm going to see if I can just move everything around first.

Hey were you running at the NMRA event last year at national trails in aug? I either seen your car run there or somewhere maybe it was just parked in the lot? I remember the plate. Do you have the 408 in this car? Man i want to trade my SSP coupe for another S/N95 sooooo bad! peace

Damn! I didn't go with 3" tail pipes because I couldn't find any and secondly I didn't think that they would fit with 315's out back. It looks like you have ample clearance with the tire too. Nice job!

Yep I was there. I did both the car show and bracket racing that weekend. And it's 418, not 408. ;) ....Well, technically 420ci since it's .040 over instead of .030

The tailpipes do rub on the bumper right now. I'm going to try to readjust them as soon as I can.

Paul, I was really worried about tire clearance when I ordered these. A friend of mine has the MAC 3" pipes with 315's and they had plenty of clearance so I went ahead and took a chance on these. As you can tell I do have plenty of clearance around the tires. :)

i decided to go with mufflers that are 3" in and 2 1/2" out to quiet it down a little more and help with fitment concerns over the axle and out. but i have the dreaded drone and it is getting on my nerves, so i'll have to revisit my exhaust again ... :bang:

mike, what's the latest on the other end of your exhaust system? still moving away from the kooks?

I don't know what I'm doing now. I want to drive it some more like this before I decide what I'm doing with the headers. I only drove it about 5 minutes or so the other night. I didn't really notice any exhaust leaks in that time, so I must have fixed it at some point and didn't notice because the car was so loud.

For the ground clearance issue, I've been wanting coil-overs for a couple years now. It might be time to go ahead and buy them. The other problem is the O2 sensors, which can easily be moved to one of the primary tubes.

I think I got it finished up tonight. The mufflers are in there nice and tight now. Unfortunately I couldn't get the driver side to fit exactly right, so it's still a little shorter and touching the bumper. But I did get the pass side almost perfect. :) I haven't drove it like this yet, so I'll wait until after the first test drive before I officially say it's finished. ;)

Here's a short video for you guys. It's still cold here, it idles a little better once it's warmed up.
