Hey, can anyone out there tell me how with 2000 bucks I can get my 1995 mustang gt to 300 rwhp. I have a limited budget for the next few months and need a quick boost in ponies.....thanks guys (oh and the car is currently stock other than k&n filtercharger and 14 degree advance).

sorry guys but now that I think about it this isn't really my question because asking it is stupid because it has been asked hundreds of times....my real question is what brands are the least expensive and most effective for this type of work. So many people have offered suggestions as to the necessary parts but what I really want is someone running nearly 300rwhp or better to tell me the brands and how to get them as cheaply as possible....thanks

Nitrous.
but if you don't wanna get that, then can I ask, are you going to do all the work yourself, or are you gonna take it to some shop, and pay for the work?

Just search around on ebay and the classified here and at www.corral.net. You should be able to get a H/C/I combo and the supporting parts for a little bit over 2000 if you are a good shopper. A decent combo will give you around 300hp. But nitrous is defeintly the easy way to get there and it'll probably cost you 1/2 as much.

Heads will be the most important factor in this combo. Trick Flow heads are AWESOME and they are cheap $995 from Mustangs unlimited VS about $1,200 + for AFR Heads. With the right cam TW heads will out preform AFR heads. I have 2 friends, one w/ a 91 LX the other w/ a 91 GT. The 91 LX has all the basic bolt ons and full exhaust, TW heads, Ported Cobra Intake, and an alphabet cam a B cam I think he dynoed at 299 and to 291 ( diffrent dynos) The 91 GT has full exhuast and basic bolt ons only diffrence being he has cats and a diffrent cam. For heads he as AFR's GT40 Intake and I belive a crane cam, he dynoed at 270 on the dyno that the LX dynoed 291. so point being if you put together the right combo you can come close to 300 on the dyno.

Dont get Nitrous, it may be the cheapest way but you only have that power when your bottle is full.

GT40 intakes are pretty weak though compared to a Trickflow or Edelbrock set up.

Somebody around here is selling the Trick Flow engine Kit for $2039 I think, you should get ahold of that, and you should have the 300hp you desire!!!

$700 for a good n2o set up. You can leave your car basically stock and have the xtra power at your fingertips. Upgrade your fuel pump and you'll be able to do more upgrades and mods for $1300.

if you shop around you can pick up a used blower kit for under $2k

I found my S-trim setup for $1800 used ( sold it for $1600).. Worked perfect, and never had one problem with it ( other then the typical blower belt probs).
Then bought a new GSS340 pump( $110)
and ran the FMU on the stock injectors

Few weeks later i had it dynoed, and made 316RWHP on that simple setup, through an AODE, untuned. I was running on 19lb injectors which were pushing it, but it worked just fine. went from a 15.3@92 to 13.30@109

A very similar story is in 5.0 Mustang Mag this month. Guy searched out and acquired two Garrett T-3's, did some ridonkulous welding, and yanked 450 horses out of his engine real quick. Pick up the magazine, it's got a whole pile of info on what you need, and what tools you're gonna have to use. I'm thinking about going that direction now, so long as i can polish the old turbo's.

And with the right cam, AFR's will outperform TrickFlows.

Like Jaden on the Corral who makes 312rwhp with AFR's and the same cam that I have. I think he actually has LESS mods than I do, so I'm expecting some nice numbers after the AFR's go on this week.

TrickFlows ARE good heads for the money but there is a reason why AFR's come out on top in all the aftermarket head comparison tests. No sense in arguing about it though, bottom line is that you can make 300rwhp with either one.

Besides, dynos don't tell the whole story. There is a guy on Corral who dyno'ed at 262rwhp/255rwtq and ran a 12.3 @ 109 on his first pass...
