That is a good site..... but ... to a Novice, it might as well be Greek!!?? Most engines 302 from the late 70s are 9.5:1 or so.. as low as 8.9 to 9.7.. depending on Deck height.. compression height.. Head CC's ect.. ect...
Blah..blah... figure this way.. the CC's of the heads is USUALLY what MOST piston mfg's will use for compression.. IE: 64CC= 9.2, 62CC= 9.6, 60 CC= 9.8:1 ( using this as a general discription.. cool?) When you buy the pistons ( Only IF you need to buy... remember disassemble the engine FIRST before you know what to buy) Early 302 heads up to the E7s are 69-64 CC's, E7s and GT40s are tighter.. 62-60 CC's.. most aftermarket haeds are 64CC's.. Like I said 10:1 is good power and do able.. 9.5 is better for a beginner as the tuning issues are less.. SOOOooo.... using YOUR pistons.. and your heads.. look up the Advertised compression for that year and model... cool?? there are about a bazillion web sites that can help you like the mentioned above.. and after you know the meaning of the requested items and cc's.. they will rock for you...
Dont get boggled down on "Compression" or Camshafts.. Intake runner cc's or ramp acceleration rates... all that will come as you get more experiance! cool?? Just putting a good bottom end and bolting on the usual bolt ons with a mild cam and induction will make you smile!! And as you get more knowledge thru hands on.. all the stuff on the net WILL start making more sence.. LOL

Just me........................
