a friend of mine blew his motor in his 67 289 comet and can get a 90 302 for cheap. will the flexplate and headers etc bolt right up? will there need to be any modifications or will everything bolt right up. the tranny is auto btw.
Everything from the '67 should bolt onto the 90 5.0 except the flexplate for the auto tranny. It'll bolt on, but the balence is wrong. 289 is 28.2oz balence and the '90 5.0 is 50oz balence. You will need to get the correct flexplate with 50oz balence. Otherwise it should be good to go.
Thats a great swap Theres something about a 60's car with a roller cam!! Plus he will notice a great deal of improvement with that 302!! Its a torquer motor then the 289.
