N/A Mustangs run in Pure Street at mid 10's on small slicks with unported heads, and .500 lift cams so yes it is possible to run 10's in a lighter focus. Why a focus.....might I ask? A mustang would be much safter because of its length. Length = more stability.
500hp and hold up with a stock block.....good luck! If it were me and I just had to do a Focus, I'd contact RICK91GT here on the board and get him to build me a stroker (man o war block) 347 stroker with AFR heads, about a
.568 lift solid roller cam, and lighten thruout. Slicks will get your traction, no problem if you can get the weight tranfer correct. IF you can't run 10's with that then you need to quit racing!

But thats no fun

Johnfocus03.... Sounds like a good project. Dont let yourself get caught up with the nay sayers. My buddy had a factory 5 cobra kit car with a supercharged 306. The car has a super short wheel base but only weighed 2200lbs. Every body told him the car wouldnt hook for crap and it would be a dyno queen. His best run was a 11.08 at 98mph with 1.49 60 ft. On that run his trans got stuck in 3rd gear and he had to coast through the traps. His 1/8 mile mph was 104. He had a super safe tune in it and it made 380rwhp. It took him a while with practice and full slicks to finnally get it to hook, but he did it. Im sure if you go with an adj.suspension out back you will get it hook.

get a nice block..dart for sure....then stroke t 331 or 347 i would go all forged 347 low compression and throw either a vortech or paxtoon 2000 on there you wont need much more then 9 or 10 lbs of boost to egt the 500 whp..make sure you get a great tune on it and it should be as reliable as anything ur not over boosting and the motor can handle it...go with afr 185's and trickflow r or track heat upper...its not hard to get 500whp..but it takes money but since thats not an issue ur fine....but on a stock for block ur gonna split it sooner or later...get a good foundation 1st ull regret it if you dont

Those heads will be fine ported and polished. To get an idea of what a good job on them can net in terms of ET's, go here: http://thumperoforangepark.com/

Give these guys a call, best machine shop I have ever dealt with in the phoenix area,

I don't know if they do P&P, but they are very professional, and have an amazing shop.
