I was watching this video of an EVO running 33psi on a 2.3L stroker motor. They said like 600hp and he smoke almost everything.

What would a 4.6L produce at 30psi assuming you built the motor to handle that much boost?

i dunno if 30psi is even necessary... but go to this page and you will see what 10-15-20psi can do with 4.6 and 5.0L motors

I know 30 psi is insane. Just for comparison though. Give any engine 30psi and it should be a land missle. Give a larger displacement vs rice @30psi and what do you have?

Don't forget.....PSI is only a measure of backpressure in the intake track. 30psi on a 4cyl engine is going to be moving no where near the volume of air that 30psi on a V8 would You're filling twice as many cylinders and therefore backpressure would be of a lesser amount in comparision.

When in increase the displacement. The EVO's are like 2.0L and it was stroked to 2.3L.

Gearbanger,
Would 30psi in a 2.3L=15psi in a 4.6L?

stroke is the measure of how far up and down the piston travels in the cylinder. a stroker motor is simply taking a crankshaft and connecting rods with a larger stroke than stock and putting into your motor. doing this increases the length the piston will travel and therefore increases your displacement.

A roll. Most Cobra owners race from a roll because of wheel hop (their one weakness).

there is no real answer to this as the setup and exact spec would vary the output dramatically.

But if you assume that a 4.6 can be tuned to the same specific output then it would give you a better esitmate.

600bhp / 2.3 litres = 260.87bhp per litre

so

260.87bhp X 4.6 litres = 1200bhp

However in the case of the SOHC 4.6 it is unlikely to be able to match a lightweight 4 cylinder engine for specific out per litre. So 900-1000bhp would be a safer estimate.

There may well be no substitue for displacement but modern technology and tubo's sure can mess up the logic. In the 1980's Formula 1 race cars used to produce 1500bhp from a 1.5 litre V6 turbo. NOW THATS IMPRESSIVE.
