should a 315/35/17 drag radial rub the inside of the wheel well while in a turn? I just went from a 275 to the 315,and while in a turn the tire seems to be rubbing. Has anyone else had this prob? Thanks in advance
oh yeah, rim size is a 17x9

Kind of a narrow rim for a 315. I would recommend a 17 x 10.5. A 17 x 9 would cause LOTS of sidewall bulge, which would easily explain your problem when putting pressure on the tires in corners.

What year Stang?

My 315s rubbed on an area about 4-5 inches long along the inner fender lip (where 2 panels are welded together and make for a sharp edge).

The rear end moves laterally in our cars enough to cause the rub while cornering hard.

I notched the area with tin snips and beat it up out of the way with a ball peen hammer. This ALMOST got rid of the rub completely (if I go around a curve doing like 1g or better, it sometimes still rubs), when it rubs now, it's the tire against a rounded smoother surface so I don't EVEN worry about cutting one.

BTW the 'bulge' caused by running on a narrower rim does NOT make the tire any wider. Sheesh!

You need to take off your wheels and look around inside the wheel well to see where it is rubbing and go from there.

Until I can do a 5 link setup, I have no problems with a little harmless rub. I love my 315s!

What kind of DRs are you guys running?
I have no rubs at all with my Nitto DRs.
They are 315/35/17's but on a 17x10.5 wheel

I think the 17x9 has a different backspacing, seem like I remember reading something like that, correct me if I am wrong.

ok guys, turns out it wasnt the wheel well rubbing afterall. It was a metal bracket that holds the brake line down by the tires. Bent it back about a 1/2 inch from the tire and fixed the problem. Thank for your replies

I've had some gentle rubbing on that bracket and on my quad shocks.
