345ci Nitrous'd Notchback Progress Thread

That what I use with that set-up, a little heating and beating is required on the wheel well. Did you narrow the rear at all when you did the 9" ends?

Car looks great J...

Thanks, those are some pretty crappy pics too, when its clean and the bumper and hoods on its gonna look alot better obviously, I did narrow the rear, only .250" though, and i had a spacer of that ammount when i was trying to see if that 325 fit, when i hammered my tubs i didnt heat em, just used a few different hammers and a sledge a little bit... Did you do anything to get the spring and shock away from the tire? Im never gonna have a 325 on the car, i was trying this out of curiosity only, so im not really upset they didnt fit. I think i could fit that 295 radial on the car if i ever decided to go bigger

The car looks amazing, Jeff. I'm gonna get banned in about 5 seconds for cursing out RedFoxGT, so I wanted to compliment your ride before then. That thing is shaping up to be a serious quarter mile monster. I have a 6 point cage and through the floor subframes going in my 99 in a week or two, getting the chassis ready for some future power. :nice:

Nah after that calico douche bag trolling for the past few months if we get banned it will be ****ing bull****, maybe a vacation or a infraction

thanks man, i think this winter im going to be either updating to a 10 pt cage or just cutting out whats there and starting over again, i plan on running drag week next year and for either of the small block classes im gonna need to run 9's to stay competitive

Wow you have done a few things twice on your car:D. Did you start to have issues with the lower torque boxes failing? Is that why you had them rewelded again? Now a ten point! When I cage mine that is what I want to do right off the back plus I want CM for weight and strength, but mine will not be certified with removable door bars and removable bar that runs across behind the seat. The sub connecters I want to remove the current and have new ones welded thru the floor right to the torque box. So what are the plans to get in the 9’s? Nitrous? I don’t think you have the hp currently to get in the 9’s. Will the faceplate trans handle the street? Your car is the nicest street/strip car on Stangnet, the best parts and great workmanship:nice:.

Thanks alot for compliments, its been a ton of work, yes the lower tq boxes got torn up again, now there a solid plate and should be overkill even for a 9 second car, as far as the cage goes, save yourself the money with the removable door bars, unless you are way out of shape its really not a hassle getting in and out. Since your in michigan you should just go straight to Team Z and have them do all the chassis work, they do some pretty amazing work. Moly is nice for weight savings but i heard people debating whether its actually stronger than mild steel. All the circle track guys use mild steel. My 8pt is moly and i think what ill end up doing is just keep the main hoop and rear bars and run a halo down bars and new door bars. I wish i did a 10 pt before but live and learn, and now most of the interior is out from the bodywork and im pulling the dash to do a heater core so while thats out i will just do the cage and be legal for tying to win dragweek next year :D

I have my nitrous kit pretty much worked out, going with nitrous pro flow solenoids and bottles, a NX plate thats good for a 300, and a nitrous pro flow progressive controller. The faceplated trans will be fine on the street, its a little noisy and will grind a gear here and there but all in all, there not that bad and a shtload of fun to drive in anger.

Thanks for the heads up on Team Z! I have not made up my mind on a shop yet. Know a local guy that does nice work but looking at Team Z I recognize some of the cars that they have done.

I not a big guy 5'8" 170, but I just am afraid that down after I want to street the car more than race that it will not be as easy. I would be happy with 10’s at this point:shrug:, it will always be a smallblock NA car:nice:. Did you see my dyno numbers in my progress thread?

I saw the numbers, thats real good power. What cam are you running? solid roller? You say you'd be happy with 10's now.... haha. Im not even in the 10's yet and im already planning on how to go faster. Team Z is top notch, and dave is on the boards of hardcore5.0 and corral alot helping people out

thats what i thought, If i were building a drag car i'd pretty much cloan your car :nice:

Thanks man :nice: id build a car very similar to yours if i had a ton of money to start another project

Solid roller....FTI Ed Curtis custom 664/.633 238/248

Made great power but not the torque like yours, I guess that is the compromise you make more power to sacrifice the torque.

Just bought a set of Dart Pro1 as cast 195's, they will be replacing the AFR 185's. I think I may be able to fix the AFR's for now and go back to the dyno and finish up to see ALL what she has. Then in the spring go back and see how she likes the Dart heads. I really wanted to stay with a strait valve heads because I did not want to change rockers, pistons....plus I knew where these were sitting brand new in box, could not pass up the price.

I got a call into TeamZ...will see…

Lol i want another project, but i got an 07 so, finishing the fox has been tough.

Well, you know I love your car, bro. I wish I had a buddy like you around so I could get my fix... I haven't done any decent wrenching in so long.

Makes me wish I could just spend a couple of months working out all of the kinks with my car. It's not that I ever plan to be finished with my car, but I can't wait until I'm completely done with combination so I can focus on all of the interior and exterior things to make the car as clean as possible.

Ship the car to mass i'll be glad to work the bugs out of it :D

i know how you feel. i did that for a while, my car was pretty clean for a while, then when i blew the old motor it sat for a while and when your working on it all the time its tough to keep it clean, its a good feeling knowing that everything is going to be fresh in the car, and that i dont really have to worry about the drivetrain. Its almost going to be like a new car, between the paint, and having the windows tinted, new hinges on all the doors, new window motors, also took the crash bars out of the doors and lightened them up a TON. I cant wait to have it back. I also helped my body guy out a little tonight fixing the 1/4 window moldings. I'll be sanding those tommorow and will probably have pics on friday of them.

How do you like that cam, what kinda power did you make? Im ordering a cam from him next week and we're shooting for 500rwhp N/A

I love it has decent power down low for driving in 5th gear on the street. Has the power up top to pull gears at 7200. My 331 made 417hp at 6500-6800rpm (dyno sheet shows same hp), 380ft lbs at 5200rpm on a DynoJet in 4th with a 4.56 rear gear. I think I will be putting her back together to finish my dyno session later this fall, we only got to the fuel setting and just pulled timing before she broke:(.

BTW when I had Ed did this cam I said I would be willing to sacrifice some top end hp so it would still be street friendly, that is why it does not have a ton of duration.
