347 adn exhaust questions

hey all greeting from iraq. i have a few questions i been thinking off
the town onslow county where im in in the state is goin to become a emissions county so i think im goin to have to get cats probally
what do you guys think. anyone know anyone that does inspections and overlooks things lol i usta do it in nj but now im in marines my car is registered in nc so i dont know anyone?
also if no one knows anyone can i run cats on the 347 to pass emisions or would they not help at all?
i would like to make the motor like i want and just put cats on it and keep the smog pump to pass emisions in nc then when i get out of the marines in a couple of year take it all off lol. let me know what u guys think. or should i just wait till i get out to do anything becuase the way it is looking i will be here 7 month home for 5 then back here for 7 then home for 5 and back for 7 and so on so i dont even know if it is worth it i am getting a bike and i will be around in the summer months so i might just leave my car at my house and work on it when i take leave and just build my parts up till i get out.

any input is much appricaited
thanks you very much sorry to vent but not alot of car guys here that actually know what they are talking about lol

Would be nice if someone on Stangnet had a 347 which has passed emissions and could post on it.

I'm in the same boat as I am planning on a 347 all new from CHP. CHP has an emissions legal 347e engine. The cam allows the engine to be certified as smog legal. I'll be adding on Edelbrock emissions legal heads (Performer)and intake (RPM II), plus keep my smog stuff and Bassani X w/cats. I'm told I should pass emissions pretty easy, but have no info from someone who has done this. In theory, this setup should be ok and still allow for good power/torque.

Once the engine is completed and installed, I'll get a good tune (chip) and then see if it passes. If I have problems, I might have to find a used stock H pipe for the real emissions test. Somehow, I think I'll be fine with emissions friendly cam, heads, and intake along with the cats and smog pump.

Sorry I don't have any hard core answers, but I can say that eventually I'll have all the answers cause I'm definitely going the 347 route in a state where emissions inspection is pretty tough.

Im just basing this on my car but with all my mods with the stock H swapped back in i passed CA Emissions EASILY, i had tons of room in all catagories on the smog test. So im sure with a more aggressive 347 i could still pass.
