I have come across a sweet deal on a CHP 347 with dished pistons/AFR heads/custom cam matched to a kenne bell flowzilla for $4500
motor has approx 15k miles so its just broken in

What is expected if run on a fox body? Does anyone have any combo similar? I am very interested in turning it into my winter project. My centri is having a hard time boosting at the same time as my buddies turbo. Id like to keep up!!

Any input?

GET YOURSELF A SET OF CUSTOM FUEL RAILS!!!

The day I was dynoing my car there was a built 5.0L running the 2.2L Kenne Bell unit and some water/meth injection on his ride. My tuner said the car had great potential, but the stock fuel rails were just too restrictive for the owner to ever see it. The problem is, is that room for a set of decent sized rails is pretty scarce, so the design is going to have to be fairly well though out.

the engine currently has aeromotive rails, 42# inj... so thats not an issue. I was just wondering if it went 13's when the engine was in an explorer , how fast a fox body would be. Anyone feel like doing some math?

I have heard the fuel rails are good for 500-600 hp...but that is just speculation. You would be in that area, maybe more...

Anyone know the inside diameter of the fuel rails?

I hope that isn't a stock block

b50 sportsman block blue printed and balanced. All forged internals. I like the new boss block, but the price tag cant be justified. long blocks are going to be STARTING at 5500 at stock 302 displacement. No thanks

If you are getting that whole package for that price, take it. I'm not a KB fan on a pushrod engine, but for that price i could be.
The shortblock alone was probably $4500
(this of course only if when you said "no R302", what you meant is it is an R302)

At that engines full potential, 42's are probably undersized, in a car setup for drag, i'd say 10's were a given.

ill just saying hes probably not selling it because it runs awesome obviously lol. Id think a 2.2 KB was a little small for a 347

Yes it will run.
Yes 42 should be plenty up to roughly 10 -12 psi from the 2.2L
No the 2.2L will not have any problems feeding a 347
Yes the blower and rotationg assembly are MORe than capable of splitting the block
Your time down the track will largely depend on your suspension and ability to drive
No, I cannot make a guess at HP or TQ numbers without having a lot more information:

Comp Ratio
Cam
Heads
Valves and springs
Blower Pulley size
Ignition
TB Size
Meter type and size
Porting and port matching
ETC.

Even WITH those things, the best anyone could do is a Wild Ass Guess with a ball-park figure.

One thing is for sure though... It's a hell of a lot of fun on the street and $4500 for the whole package (motor and blower) is a steal! I would seriously consider prepping a Dart block or equivalent for the internals if you looking to push up to 500-600 RW.

I thought the R302 block will not have a problem with that power

Don't forget though... the block killers are:

RPM largely due to crank walk) and Torque (the block "twister"). KB combos make a ton of the latter.

Generally the rule of thumb for stock 302s is 450RW when you hit dangerous territory. I'll give the R302 a little credit (not having run one) for being able to handle another 50 or 75 RW more (it's no miracle block by any means)? I pulled those number out of my rear end for the R302, if you're wondering. Just a WAG.

Personally, I don't trust the R302 block to handle any more power than a stocker.

I should be able to get at least 2k for my vortech setup, 300-400 polished trick flow intake, 200-300 42# inj (has set installed on 347) and hopefully 1000 for my alum gt40s with rockers. That will pretty much cover it, and Ill have my stock 302 as a spare block to boot! Anyone think its worth doing? all the parts have less than 500 miles haha

The blower alone is worth the price you posted above.

I think you're confusing an R block with a sportsmen block, old man

Sir... you are correct! LOL

I READ R block several times and still THOUGHT Ford Sportsman the whole way.

Please disregard my above posts concerning the R block.

...and while I'm at it... I can't see any reasons why anyone would swap an R block for the Boss for this type of application.

All the more reason to jump on this deal. The machined block goes for what... $2K all by itself!

Let me take that back- I was confusing the sportman with the R block. I thought the part number for the sportsman had an R in it. Ill have to double check on the block. It was build by coast high performance/street fighter. Its right up there with DSS. Ill let you know once I confirm the specs.

I was about to say the R302 and the B50 block are different...just a bit of confusion, it happens to us all.

The R302 block is near $1,800.

The B50 block doesn't have R in it's part number: M-6010-B50

sounds right now that I think of it. Whats the sportsman realy good for ? I hear its 600hp crank max - is that accurate?

Also- if a block cracks, what kind of damage is done to the internals-total loss?
