ditto, but for #4, it's at least a fair fight. Mustang by a stretch, but I do like the look of the 350 too.

I wish I could vote for both since I currently own a 2003 350Z and will be getting a newly ordered Mustang GT in the next month or two.
I've always been a fan of the Z and the Mustang since my parents owned a 65 Fastback a 1980 280ZX, 1982 280ZX and a 1991 300ZX Twin Turbo.
I love my Z because of its performance, retro style, and its status a sports car. Same goes for the Mustang and, also, because of its distinctive American V8.
I love that sound.
When I heard that the Z was coming back, I had to get one when it first came out.
And now that the Mustang is redesigned for 2005, I had to get that too.
I'm sure people will be jealous when they see me park my new GT next to my 350Z.

I would have to say the mustang all the way because it is faster than the z and i personnally think it looks better. Thw z is a nice car and quick but with it you will also miss the rumble of the v8. They are both pretty easy to mod so its a toss up there. pricewise if you are talking about a new z i thin it will cost a bit more than the stang as well. but ultimately its up to you and what you prefer. You will have fun either way.

The stang would win 3 of 4, loosing in the road course/handeling dept.

Actually, a 99-04 GT would do the same with a close finish on the 1/4 mile/top speed.

I'd imagine most cars seem powerless against a near 500hp cobra

I was between both, and ended up going with the Mustang for several reasons. The main one was Dplan. But, after researching the Zs they were having some issues that I didn't want to deal with. The main one was they were having suspension issues that were causing the tires to feather and have horrible road noise. Also, (not that ford is the best) the interior quality on the Z wasn't very good. Most of the Zs I looked at with leather, the headrests didn't fit well at all. But, I love the exterior on the Zs.

I cant comment on the mustang (dont have one... yet) but my dad did have a 350z up untill a few weeks ago. Very fun car to drive. It has a good amount of power, but I never I got that straight line rocket feel from it. The car shines with the wheels turned though. I could drive it for hours on the windy backroads. The only thing it lacked was power off the line. Maybe I didnt know how to launch it all that well since it wasnt my car, but I always felt that it could use a little more down low.

Well I have a G35 coupe which is a glorified 350Z AND it is an awesome car.Not the brute force muscle the GT has, but a very refined power band and very nimble.I have no complaints about either and they are BOTH a joy to drive

G35 is much more than a glorified 350z. Much better quality, and design if you ask me.

Like with any new car, there are going to be issues when they first come out.
On the car forums, you only hear about the problems, but they're from a small percentage of owners because nobody will talk about the good things or non-problems.
Since I own a 2003 350Z, my car experienced the tire feathering problem, but it was fixed under warranty and I also had my front tires replaced all for free.
Besides that, I haven't had any other problems or issues. My car now has 27,700 miles and it still runs strong. I love the way it looks (inside and out), how it performs on the open roads, streets, and on winding roads. I also call it my ricer killer.
As for the new Mustang, there have been problems that owners have had to deal with so it isn't exactly issue free either.
I've read about these, but it hasn't stopped me from ordering/buying a GT.
Just like the Z, I love the way it looks (inside and out) etc...etc.. It has its advantages and disadvantages over the Z, but I don't forget the Z is a 2 seater and the Stang is a 4 seater. Comparing the Z versus the Stang is like comparing apples with oranges.
Since the war with the Camaros and Firebirds is on haitus, what else is there to compare too?
1. GTO? Lots of HP, but uninspiring look. Pontiac should've gone back to its roots and designed a GTO with a style reminicent of the 60s and early 70s.
2. RX8? Unique style, but I can't stand the sound of that WIMPLE engine.
3. Subaru WRX? Ugly. If were a girl, I wouldn't want to be seen in that. The only advantage is lots of HP and all wheel drive.
4. Dodge Stratus (2-dr coupe)? Are you kidding?
5. Honda? None
6. Mitsubishi Ecipse? Nada
7. Dodge Neon EVO? See Subaru WRX
8. BMW 3 series or M3? Close, but the Mustang looks and is the better value for the money.
9. Infiniti G35 coupe? Close. 350Z's sibling. About $5000 to 6000, more than a comparably equipped Mustang, options wise, but a few less HP than the Z and smoother ride. Only with mods it could hang with the Mustang GT.

Thats all I can think of to compare, unless you can think of more, so I guess the GT is in a class of its own. I don't see any other comparison as of this time.

Oh well, I'll just enjoy driving the two cars I've always wanted to own.
I'm probably the only person who will own a 2005 Mustang GT and a 2003 350Z, at the same time, so I'll be getting the best of both worlds.

the Z is a good looking car on the outside...I wouldn't really know on the inside b/c I can't fit in one, so my vote obviously goes with the stang.

Don't get me wrong I like them a lot. I nearly bought one, but there were several reasons I didn't. From what I read the tires issues were not a small issue. I agree that all cars have issues their first year, and that is why I am very patient with the issues I've had with the Mustang. Yes, the 2seater fun for a while, but 6'1 gets a little crowded in there. Nissan is known for their design, but their interior quality is questionable.

True. There isn't much space for tall people in a Z so I see your view.
There were many other issues with the Z that some owners have had, besides the tire feathering, but none of that hasn't happened to me.
So far so good.

Both are great cars...the Z handles better..but you have to ask yourslef...would you rather drive across America in a *** Z or an All American Mustang...you decide.
