I dont think the Z is built based on the A platform
Do they still make TT's? Thought they were extinct

Obviously thier not the same platform, I'm just being sarcastic. The TT was out for a couple years, then the Z comes out and is shaped EXACTLY the same. Just thought that was funny.

BTW I would NOT consider the 350z to be exclusive whatsoever. I see a good amount of 05 stangs, but I see 3-4 350's for every 05 GT I see. 350's are everywhere.

Again, you can't compare a Z to Mustang GT because your comparing a 2-seater versus a 4-seater. Its comparing apples and oranges. I feel that the Mustang GT is in a class of its own now that the battle with Camaros and Firebirds is on haitus. I think that the new GT should be compared more to the Infiniti G35 or the BMW 3 series coupes.
Now with those, I give a definite edge to Mustang GT. 4 cyl engines (i.e. WRX, EVO) and WIMPLEs (RX8) I don't give a crap for so I wouldn't compare them.
------
In another comparison, J.D. Power and Associates recently did an article about the least amount of problems per 100 vehicles for different car classes (i.e. Sports, luxury, SUV, etc.)
This is an excerp from the article.
J.D. Power and Associates on Wednesday (May 18) released its annual survey of initial quality for 2005 model year vehicles, based on questionnaires sent to new-vehicle owners. These are the top performers and runners up in each category:

Sporty car
* Winner: Scion tC
* Runners up: Acura RSX, Ford Mustang

Premium sports car

* Winner: Nissan 350Z
* Runners up: Honda S2000, Porsche 911

If you want to see the whole article, go to this link:http://www.aiada.org/article.asp?id=40417
------
I give both of them a two thumbs up.

Of course you're going to see more Zs out there because it came out 2 years ago. Back in 2003, there were more 1999 - 2003 Mustangs V6 and GTs than the 350Zs and G35s.
I'm sure you'll be seeing the same amount of Mustang V6s and GTs, if not more, compared to whatever new sports car that comes out in the next 2 years.
I love my Z and I wouldn't trade it for anything else.
When I get my GT, I'll be able to compare it to my Z and see how much they differ. No matter what advantage or disadvantage they'll have over each other I will enjoy driving them both. A good ole American V8 and a ricer killing V6. What a great combo.
I'll be getting a taste of both worlds.
YEAH BABY! YEAH!!

Latest sales figures for 350Z sales in 2005: 6,594 (decrease in sales from prev yr = 18%)

Latest stang figures for 2005 sales: 61,820 (increase in sales from prev yr = 19 %)

I wonder how much Mustang sales have hurt the 350Z? From these figures, it must have had an impact.

I was hoping you guys would talk him into getting a 350Z so I could have the GT all to myself. I did not like the Z when it first came out, but it has grown on me quite bit, but not enough to deter my loyalty to the Mustang.

The Z didn't fit my 6'5" frame. It was also considerably more that the equivalent Mustang (in our area) V6 Vert. I know the question is between a GT and the Z, but I still bought the V6 Stang for size, quality, and looks.

Thats a shame that 7 people voted for the 350Z on a mustang site!!

This should have been a public poll!!

I am the proud owner of an 05 GT, and being this is a Mustang site, I'm sure I know which car will win. But what is your honest opinion of the 350Z?

Which is faster top speed? 1/4 mile? 0-60?
Which handles better? Slalom? Skidpad? Racetrack?
Which is easier/cheaper to mod?
Which looks better/better styling/enterior/curb appeal?

Thanks for your opinions!

Well from a street start the Mustang will always win, since the Z needs to rev up before the launch. On the track the Mustang has the advantage of a wider power band. The Z has a small power band which starts around 4800 to 6800 redline (You need to keep the oil to a boil if you want speed from this Nissan engine). All things being equal the Mustang GT will win everytime. Now, if non-experienced drivers are involved the winner will be almost like a craps shoot. The Z also needs premium fuel while the Mustang only needs 87 octane. A Mustang can get 10-15 more hp with advaned timing and premium fuel.

The Z will handle better than the Mustang in stock trim, mainly due to it's superior 18 inch wheels and superior tires.

The Mustang will be cheaper to modify.

Styling is just a matter of opinion.

I'd vote for both since I will be owning both.
But I can only vote for one, so I abstained.

I voted for the mustang but the 350z was the car I really wanted before I saw and reasearched the 05 stang. I like both cars a lot and it was a really difficult decision for me to make but I've decided to go for the mustang for sure, that is unless they don't get more gts out to the market soon. I have owned 3 nissans previously (200sx, 240sx, 300zx) so the next logical step for me was the 350z but I was just waiting until I could save up to buy a slightly used one. Then i started hearing about the new mustang and saw some concept photos and loved it.

I just hope the 06 model year doesn't turn out to be behind in production just like this year or else I won;t be getting the new mustang
