I can get a 89 351 efi complete from oil pan to intake for really cheap, only 60,000K on it. My 302 is pretty much shot. Would this engine be worth my time? I do plan on adding a cam/heads intake to it. What else if anything will I need for this swap? I can get the computer for the efi if needed. Would there be any problems with hood clearance? What kind of headers can I use?
Will offroad h-pipe still line up? Will my drive shaft work?
sorry for all the questions, but iv never considered a 302 to 351 swap till now

I have no experience with the 351, but I know you can buy swap headers, theyre in summit.

id put a good set of pistons in it if your gonna take it down that far.

Does anybody know how much HP/TRQ they have stock? So I can have a starting point. Its a 1988-1990 block, is this a roller? or do I have to swap the cam right away for a H.O cam,is there a such this as a 351ho?

That block would be a non-roller, the 351w wan't machined for roller lifters until mid 93. Your driveshaft will work, but I believe you'll need a new oil pan. I belive those years were rated at 205-210hp and 330 lb-ft.

you cant use the stock truck stuff its going to be to tall. look in the FMS catalog and they have complet kits for bracketry and everything.

thx for all the replies.Looks like more work that its worth in the end. Almost not worth the swap. 351 stock = more parts to buy = less hp stock = non roller....

But if you're looking to build a n/a stroker, you cant beat a 351. Stock for stock you can, but thats what you get when a 49ci larger motor is running the same cylinder heads factory

If your running a stick, don't forget you'll need a diferent balance flywheel than the 302
