I just got my 408w block and rotating assembly back from machine shop. Its a 97 351w factory roller block. My builder said I should consider running linked bar lifters instead of my factory dog bone roller lifters because they will handle more punishment and the cam selection is better and i would basicly be using cams designed for 5.0s if i stuck with the factory setup. Can i use retrofit linked rollers with my roller block? This is the cam I want to use with link bars, is this possible since it says for use with engines that did not come from the factory with roller cams?? 35-426-8 - Xtreme Energy™ Retro-Fit, Hydraulic Roller Camshafts, For engines that DID NOT come from the factory with hydraulic roller cams, NOT FOR E.F.I.

Well for the second time today...lol. My cam grinder said to avoid comp cams link bar lifters. He has seen to many failures. Just a fwiw. He recommended Morel like bars. Personally I wouldn't skimp out on the cam and lifters especially on a fresh built motor. Call one of the cam gurus. Some names/places are Ed Curtis at Flowtechinductions.com,bullet cams,Brian Friedentag(he did mine-popular name on another forum as Freezy),even Jim Woods owner of Ford Strokers.com can and will point you in the right direction(Even if you don't buy anything from him). I wouldn't run anything but a billet core custom grind cam with some good link bar lifters in a 408. Expect to probably pay twice as much compared to that linked kit though.
