What are you able to interchange from a 5.0 intake setup and a 5.8 intake setup??? I know that the fuel rails will be farther apart and the lower intakes won't interchange, but what about the uppers???

Can you bolt a 5.0 upper to a 5.8 lower??? I thought I heard somewhere that the bolts line up different.

Oh, and does it make a difference if it's a truck 5.8 and a car 5.0 <-not going in a Mustang, just a general engine question.

Thanks in advance

You have to use a 5.8 lower, but a 5.0 upper will bolt to a 5.8 lower yes

To elaborate...

To elaborate...I'm planning on picking up a 5.8 lower for my '79 F-150 <-(converted from a 400 to a 351W) and using a 5.0 HO upper. I just wanted to make sure that they interchanged first.

your 78/79 351w lower intake is probably the only intake on the truck right? thats a carb intake. it is different from the fuel injected intake. you would need a lower intake from a fuel injected truck.

If you use a stock 351w truck lower....it uses the same pattern as some aftermarket intakes, but is completely different pattern than the stock mustang.
Unless you get a 351w Lightning lower, then you can use a GT40 or Cobra upper, maybe an explorer upper(not sure about that last one)

Speadfreak is right.

The port patterns on the 351w truck lowers are completely different than the 302 port patterns. They will not mate.

Any GT40 intake will bolt up however. So you can use a gt40 style 351w lower from a Cobra or Lightning, and bolt it to a 302 gt40 upper.

Samick check my site for other swap details...http://www.freewebs.com/vristang/fox351wswapfaq.htm
