3650 to t45 swap-speedo off

Well my buddy was on his fifth 3650 and finally had enough, so we put in a T45 in last night. Everything went fine but since the gear ratios in the trannys are different the speedo is off. What do we need to do to fix this. He does have a predator if that is a possibility.

Thanks

Well we had the T45 just lying around the shop so we just threw it in. I have 60000 miles on my t45, which as seen alot more abuse then his 02 with 30000 miles and he has had it rebuilt several times, as many people on this site has had to do. I know the t45 isnt any stronger but it doesnt give as much problems as the 3650

Thanks mike
but
Are sure you have to get ford software

I might be wrong but I thought I heard of a different way?

hmm when i put in my T45 and put a 2002 GT 5spd computer in there the speedo was fine...

how did you check if the speedo is off?

I don't think it should be. Did you get the right speed sensor? At first I thought it would be different, but when I took my car into the shop with the 2002 computer it came out just fine.

you should have got a TKO. the T-45 is no better than the t-3650

i think infact T-3650 has slightly higher tq rating then T-45.
whats the reason of ur buddy blowing tranny? if he keeps killing tranny, due to excessive power, then TKO500 or TKO600, may be T-56 is better ways to go. But if he keep killing tranny due to inproper op, then no matter what he gets, he'll blow'em

You were right

I called The ford house and they said they could reflash the ecu to take a t45 for $99 bucks

Thanks

No problem man, i try too help. i hear you about the t-45 sitting around. i may buy a spare t-45 off a guy at my work. i was one of the lucky 01's guilt early enough to have a t-45 :nice:

T-3650 at least the early ones are too problematic

yeah the T-3650 has a slightly higher tourqe rating. but they have had a lot of problems with the early ones. like 01-02 cars. 04 cars seem ok.

Well After we installed the T45 and got it on the road the Rpms were off by 500 or so

The gears ratios in the trannys are a little different in 1st and 2nd but the rest are the same

Yeah the 3650 does have a higher torque rating then the T45, which IMO they both are under rated.
He blew it the last time we were at the track and completely lost 2nd, 2nd and 3rd always are the ones to go. We both race our mustangs and he doesnt drive it any worse then I do my t45 which shifts fine.
He has a RAM clutch, quadrant and adjuster so everything is engaging properly.
He has owned many Earlier models with T5 and T45 with no problems
I simply believe its a flaw in the tranny.

Yeah we are going to install a T56 he just needs this tranny in the mean time

Yeah I havent heard any problems from any 04 GT or Mach owners, so I believe they have some what fixed the problem
