And to comment on performance, one would probably need to know what your electrical requirements at idle are, what amperage 130 alt you have, if you have U/D's, where your hot idle is set, etc.

I've run 3G's with the stock pulley and overdriven. I prefer the latter, esp since I dont tach the car up (you dont want to see more than about 15K alt RPM).

I have the stock pulleys on the car now and it idles about 900rpm(carb),i have a external mallory fuel pump, msd 6al and i rev it the most to 6 grand.I am soon going to do a electric fan, thats why i am doing the upgrade. The alternator is from a 96 v-6.Does anybody know if 4 gauge battery cable okay to use?i bought a 7 foot piece today for $12 and i am picking up a 150 amp fuse and holder in the morning. It sucks at night coming from the track which is atleast 30 miles from my house ,hoping my battery will make it home.lol

i use a new parts store alternator for a 95 mustang, they cam factory with 130A alternators.

the pulley sizes from my stock one to the 130A looked the same (close enough i didnt pay it any bother)

the new alternator puts out so much more current i doubt the pulley size would even matter honestly..

Foxfan's advice sounds pretty good to me.

If there is an issue, because your set-up isnt stock, I'd just crunch numbers to make sure you dont go past the alt's critical speed (crank and alt pulley relationship with regard to 6000 engine RPM).

Crank pulley/alt pulley * engine RPM = alt RPM
