has anybody used 3m double sided tape for there a pillar pod. I have'nt put mine in yet but i was wondering because the pictures of the projesct bullitt, it does'nt have screws or the push tabs that auto meter gives you to hold the a pillar on. ? Anybody know i also dont want the tape to be coming apart after a few years

Try to stay away from using tape......it'll seem like it works but with the gauges installed, the pod will probably pop off. I have a the molded triple pillar pod and it fits nicely over the original pillar but needs to be drilled and screwed together to be safe. The new pillar didn't have the tabs like the original one does to keep it in place. I think the biggest problem with tape is it doesn't adhere very well to the stock pillar because of the material itself and the fact that it isn't a flat smooth surface.

I screwed Mine together the first time and hated the way it looked with screws in it. So I bought another one and taped it together. I run a sign shop that does plastics and we use that 3m tape all the time, and I don't care what kind of experiences people say they have had, that is some good tape. If you have bad experiences then you didn't clean your surfaces good. And I'll give you that if all the grease and stuff isn't completely off of the stuff your trying to stick together then it won't work, but use plenty of denatured alcohol or even just plain rubbing alcohol before you stick it together and it won't ever come apart. I ran a bead of that tape on the edge of the old a-pillar and then stuck the dual pod one on top and I can't pull them apart. It's been on there for almost two years and sit in some horrible sunlight and it's still permantly on their, and showing no signs of ever coming apart.
