My dad's 2k GT 5 speed started grinding 3rd gear last summer. I'm sure it's either the syncro or shift fork. It originally only did it when speed shifting, but it recently has been doing it randomly when driving normally and it has popped out of gear on occasion.

I'd like to know if there are any aftermarket upgrades to the shifter fork or syncros? It seems kinda dumb to replace the bad part with another weak Ford piece if there is an affordable replacement available aftermarket. I have never dropped a tranny before, but he bought the Ford service manual, so hopefully it isnt too big of a deal.
