3rd gear

Hey folks. When I go to shift into 3rd it grinds like I'm almost missing the gear. If I granny shift it it goes right in. Needless to say this sucks when I am racing. It just started doing this. I have an '03 with 10k on it. Any ideas as to what the problem could be? thanks.

Welcome to the Mustang Club of 1 -2 and 2-3 grind. Tremec 3650 transmission has problems and Ford will/will not issue a TSB in the futuer but please read over 38 pages of information and problens see the top threat in Modular 4.6 name "Official Tremec 3650 Issues ....."

My 3rd was a pain in the ass too, then I bought a steeda tri-ax and it went away. Just get a new shifter, cause the stock one under high rpm quick shifts does not want to go in 3rd.

yea I second the high rpm = no 3rd shift.

an aftermarket shifter should help a lot
