Hello, new to the forum! I know this is a question that has been asked several times, sorry! I supercharged my stang several months ago, and had heads, cams and 4:10 gears installed prior to the supercharger. Has anyone charged their stang and had 4:10 and changed to 3:73 or vise versa and why? Once again sorry for the redundant questioning and thanks for your time.

With the supercharger and that much power, 4.10s aren't good to have. I am not TOO sure of the specifics but I beleive it limits your top end plus your lower end is wayyyy more squirrely. I would reccomend backing down to 3.73 especially if you have a manual.

What s/c did you get. If it's a centri like paxton or vortech then keep the 4.10s. If it's a t/s then that may depend. Is your car a d/d? If not then just keep the 4.10s and use a drag radial. I know some one with an 05 Mustang GT, Auto, 4.10s, new block and a K/B. His car pushed over 600 hp and his car is a d/d. He uses M&H drag radials for his d/d tire. M&H tires runs taller so they increase the gearing. So if your tires are 27.2" with 4.10s the M&H will be about 28" and making the 4.10s 3.90s or so.

Thanks for the advice!! Its not a d/d, but I am looking to maximize its full hp potential, so I'll more than likely I'll go down to the 3.73 gears as once Im back in San Diego, Ca. Im going to go from stage II to stage III cams/heads, plus forge the bottom end and then have it dyno tuned. So Im sure the 3:73 will work fine. Once again thanks for your time!

What do you mean "maximize its full HP potential". If you are talking about dyno numbers then it's really no matter which gear ya run, but if you are going to drag the car or want to put the most torque to the ground that's a different story.

If you plan on drag racing the car, stay with the 4.10's regardless of which type of blower you plan to run. It'll help your ET's in the long run.

If not drag racing and just trying to get big HP dyno numbers, 4.10s will be fine most likely, but if you have a positive displacement blower or a heavy right foot, then 3.73's might be a wise choice. A centrifugal blower and/or a little moderation on the street with the loud pedal and 4.10's will still be fine.

I would personally stay with the 4.10's regardless of blower type, be judicious in my use of my right foot on street use, and unleash all hell when I take it to the track.

Just my .02

When are you getting back to San Diego? Have you been to Barona yet? The guy I am talking about is local to us. If you ever get a chance to go to Barona and sometimes even the Q at race legal you may see his car there. In the mean time, keep the 4.10s, get some drag radials and see how you like that. If you don't like it you can always go to 3.73 later. Who is doing your dyno tune. A lot of people from San Diego drive 150 miles to ST Motorsports in San Bernadino.

thanks, its already supercharged with the edelbrock e-force charger. an as for the gear issue, im concerned with top end power loss or not getting the most out of the blower because of the 4:10s. I'll be back in Diego late this summer, right now im in the military and currently stationed in missouri.

Do you mean you are worried about top speed in general or at the 1/4 mile track? Either one you shouldn't worry. These cars are drag limited to 145-150 MPH. That is what limits the top speed not the gearing. Theoretically if the car was not drag limited, even with 4.10s the car would reach nearly 170MPH. As far as 1/4 mile. My friends S/C 05 Mustang with 4.10s does the 1/4 mile in 10.37 at 132MPH.

You may want to re-think that. If you want to stay near San Diego, I also hear good things about Dantes Modular Performance, DMP located in Chula Vista. Did you know that some of the people left JBA and started their own shop called Renegade performance?
