4.10s and Auto Trans Shift Points...

Gears are being installed now - did the speedo calibration yesterday. My question is on the shift points...the guy doing the installation said I would need to reprogram my shift points. Does this seem correct? Right now I have the Hypertech set at "factory" shift points. Thanks.
 
Okay...
If my understanding is correct, the Hypertech gear ratio option corrrects the speedometer and also corrects the "part-throttle" shift points - but the WOT shift points still need to be adjusted? Does that seem right?

All seems fine so far, but I have a question about the grease and friction modifier. They used 2 quarts of 75w-90 Synthetic gear lube, but they put in 3 bottles of friction modifer - does that seem like too much? Thanks.
 
3 bottles of friction modifier was not needed, but it shouldn't hurt anything. 2qts of fluid sounds right though. As for those shift points, the ones given above would be effective but a tad low if you ask me. With my 4.30's, my shifts are set for 6,000 for the 1-2 shift, 5800 for my 2-3 and for my 3-4, I think its 5600 rpms. Not sure on that though.
 
I am thinking about getting 410's in my auto, and I dont have a hypertech, I was planning on getting the steeda speedo recalibration (little plastic gear things). My question is, do I still need to do something to fix my shift points for my automatic. I cant afford a hypertech...

For my auto, I had to recalibrate through the computer. I haven't attempted anything close to WOT shifting yet, since I'm going easy on the gears during the break-in period, but Hypertech claims to correct for the part-throttle shift points. Must have worked because the shift points seem perfect. As for WOT shifting...I guess I'll just see if they're close to:

1-2: 5850 rpm
2-3: 5750 rpm
3-4: 5650 rpm.

...and make adjustments if they're off a bit.

BTW, the tag stated 75w-140 synthetic ONLY but 75w-90 synthetic was used. Does that seem okay?

You can use the little speedo gear they sell to try to recalibrate the speedometer but its still going to be off by a bit. The Speedcal from Dallas Mustang would do a better job of recalibrating the speedometer and would be very accurate but it's also more expensive. As for the shift points, yes, you will need a computer program to fix your shift points. If you can't afford the Hypertech program, you might want to contact Superchips tuning and see if they can't burn you a custom chip. I don't know how much their chips are but I don't think they will be as expensive as a Hypertech programmer.
 
Just did a WOT run and it appears that I need to lower the shift points (guessing) about 300 RPMs. Got a real sweet burn out and just as it started to hit 6,000 it sounded like it was just about ready to shift so I let off of the gas and at about 3/4 throttle it shifted as the RPMs dropped to a safer number...and I still got a nice extended "scraaaaaaaaaaaaaatch" in 2nd. Best guess is that shift would have at occured at 6,100 or 6,200 or slightly higher if I would've stayed at WOT, so I'll start off by doing a -300 on shift points and see if that gets me closer to 5,800 - 5,900 at 1-2 shift.

Wow!! - the 3.27s really SUCKED!!
