4.6 2v Balancer braking???

Well as I was driving yesterday going 60mph at 2k rpms just cruising I heared a tickng noise pulled over and seen the damn crank shaft balancer was just whobling... I had no idea how this happened . We managed to get back to the shop , we took off the blower, then belt. As soon as we took the bolt off the balancer it just fail down and from the crank. WE look at it and the sock balancers are like a two piece balancer being hold by a rubber piece I believe in the middle... well what im guessing is that rubber piece just decided to take a **** on me and come off for some odd reason... Anyone ever heared this happened on the stock balancers on 4.6 2vs??

It does happen, but it is rare. They are cheap at the dealer. I paid $75 for mine. I get 35% off list, so factor 35% back in.

It happens esp with extra stress from a blower and being ran hard.

yeah I think thats what happened ... and 75 damn where did u get it lol .. I called tommie vaughn ford they r in houston and they said stock from dealer $199 .. I was like damn!!!
So I ordered an expensive $400 balancer , I dont know whats it called lol .. but my friend told me its the best and ordered it for me ... If something else goes , im selling the blower ...

I've heard of it happening before. Same thing happened to me with one of Steedas SFI balancers but it also had 80k miles on it and a good 900 or so passes on it at the track. The rubber eventually starts rotting and obviously the blower puts more stress on the nose of the crank and that includes the balancer. You pretty much just have to think of it as a maintenance item.

Thanks Bill , yeah one of my friends he is probably like a 2v god cause has 3 2v turbo cars lol .. and he told me the same thing they get old and rot and there they go ...

That's crazy that happen because I've had 145K-150K Mustangs and the balancers were original.

well idk ... did u run urs with the blower all the time? .. well i only drove mine around for like 3 days with the blower and this happens lol .. idk , i think this car is cursed cause it just brakes all the time ... maybe u think something having to do that it snowed in damn houston the previous day lol and it was still kinda cold the next .. idk houston is weired like my damn car

Its a very normal item. I dealt with a lot of Foxes and they all have the same problem. Most Sn's are strarting to get old as well. MY 98 is 10 years old. Don't get discouraged b/c u had a matinence item break. This are going to break more often now than when it was stock. Eventualy you'll get the little chit lined out and you'll be happy with it.

ok .. well like i said i ordered a 400 dollar balancer... and hopefully that fixes the problem...

I didn't have superchargers on those two particular cars. I don't really think that should matter though. Maybe the rubber just got rotten.

well went to a buddies shop and pick upo a stock abalancer from him .. installed and the car is back!!! .. just waiting on that expensive 400 dollar one now ..
