I don't know if this has been told yet but ford just started extended coverage program 05N04 on Dec 14th. The coverage will be for 7 years from the warranty start date of your vehicle. So if your mustang or vehicle falls under this and it has not been over 7 years from your warranty start date, your intake manifold will be covered if it cracks.
For anyone who has paid to have their intake manifold replaced within 7years of the warranty start date you will be getting reimbursed.

Vehicles covered by this program
Mustang
1997 - 2001
June 25, 1997 through Job last 2001

Thunderbird and Cougar
1997
July 14, 1997 through September 4, 1997

Explorer and Mountaineer
2002
Job#1 2002 through July 27, 2001

Town Car
1996 - 2001
Job#1 1996 through Job last 2001

Crown Victoria and Grand Marquis
1996 - 2001
Job#1 1996 through Job last 2001

Intake manifolds and pistons should be made from METAL... not plastic or material with a "high silicon content".

I just saw this post, and sadly I just now removed my intake to replace it! I called the dealership and they said they would take care of it, but its in pieces! The worst part is that I have found that the crack in the intake around the thermostat has damaged the head.

currently now Im waiting for the dealership to call me back and see what they can do. I SOO wish I would have seen this post this morning

And it sounds like they are being very strict, your intake has to crack in a certain spot and it has to be 99-01 GT. You may want to give the dealership a call though...

I just got off the phone with the dealership, I was transfered about 50 times to just about every department there. no one knew what I was talking about. I finally got transfered to the service managers voicemail, now I have to wait for him to call me back. I was hoping by the end of the day I would be $735 richer, but I should of expected ford not to tell any of there dealerships about the settlement, to make it harder for people to be reimbursed.

Let me tell you something guys. I will never buy a mustang again. I have had nothing but problems and this is the icing on the cake. Not only did I have to pay to have my intake replaced, but it has done damage to the cylinder head where the leak was. Also, the coolant leaked into and damaged the first two spark plug holes on the drivers side. The shop that put the new manifold on had to use gasket sealer around the coolant port, because the head was so warped they thought it would leak even with the new manifold. Now I call up my local dealer who tells me Im sc**wed because I dont have the receipt. Now I had to have this done before I even got the lawsuit information, so I didn't pay special attentiont to saving the reciepts. On the website, fordmanifoldsettlement.com, they say I dont need a reciept. I call the number they give, only a computer messages, no operator. I call Ford Customer Service and have to talk to a bunch of operators from the middleeast that have no idea what Im talking about. The first lady I talked to was extremely rude and said that I would not be reimbursed because of no reciept, but on that website it says I dont need one. You think if youre company settled a lawsuit that maybe it would tell its employees about it. Anyone have any suggestions as to how I can get my money? Also, I would like them to pay for a new head, but that is a longshot. Sc**w Ford.

after calling about 5 different dealerships I finally got to talk to a service manager in person(no voicemail this time). I explained to him to what the notice said. and he did say that his did receive an email on it, and after reading it for the first time when he was one the phone with me he agreed that I did not need a receipt. but he did need to do an inspection on the car, that he said would take an entire day to perform!!! he also did not know if I had to send in for the reimbursement, or if he was to write me a check there.

edit: finally got a place to do an inspection for me tomorrow morning. they say it will take about 2 hours. they need to inspect the intake manifold, and check a bunch of serial #'s on it

they do NOT need to check a bunch of serial #'s on it !!! dont let them say they do ! it does not need to be a ford replacement ! all they need to see is if it was replaced with a aluminm one.

also they DO send in for the reimbursement , it will come to you in the mail...
