4.6 4V Question

Hey guys! Sorry to resurrect an old thread. I've been a member of SVTPerformance and Corral, but I'm new to Stangnet.

Anyways, after reading your posts, I had to add my .02 about the aviator motor.

I've been running an aviator longblock in my car for about 6 years and 60,000 miles with a P1SC procharger with no longevity problems. The motor isn't even forged.

With the high compression ratio, it's great for around town driving and throttle response, and the centri blower picks up where the 03/04 cams start to let off.

With my combo, it makes 50 less peak HP than with my 99 motor.. 450RWHP vs. 500 RWHP (all else constant), but it makes 75 more HP at 3500 RPM. That says something!! However, this motor is tuned conservatively so I don't break anything. I could probably add some timing and pull fuel and make up that extra 50 HP easy with nothing but a few keystrokes. But I don't want to blow it up.

Oh, and about that intake.... some people referred to it as the "poor man's FR500" intake, but after people started running them they realized they weren't worth the trouble. I read an intake test in one of the mustang mags, and the aviator intake actually made the least HP out of all the intakes.

I was fortunate enough to have sold mine for $400 back when people still wanted them.

Anyways, IMHO, the aviator motor is a great way to get a 4V for CHEAP, especially if you have a blown motor and need a quick replacement without having to buy everything individually. You can buy the motor for 2 grand and sell all the stuff you don't need for a grand, so you can have yourself a complete longblock for $1000! That's a STEAL!!!! You could even tear into the shortblock and add a forged rotating assembly, perhaps even a stroker crank and still stay lower than the cost of rebuilding a blown motor.

Just my .02.
