sup guys. Ive decided the direction to go for my current 2v is to just remove it and go for more displacement. I was looking at the 5.4 4v yet i dont find much talk or info about it. They say its a modular engine thus easy to bolt up. My question is: is there a lack of performance parts for this engine? Would i be making a bad choice? I wish they put a 5.4 forum on here as well. Anyone got any links to people with this mod, i love to hear from them. Thanks.

Here we go again on the 5.4 talk.

The 5.4 is almost exactly the same as a 4.6. They both have the same bore which means they can use the same pistons. The 5.4 has a taller deck height, longer stroke. That means it has a different crank and longer connecting rods. If you are going with a 4v, you will need to get a Cobra ecu or you may run into problems with just a tune on your stock ECU.

You will have to get custom headers and depending on the year of your car/block, you may need to get a different fly wheel because the Romeo's and Windsor will use a different number of bolts. I cant remember which is which. I think the Romeo uses 8 and the WIndsor uses 6. There is probably a lot of things I am missing.

5.4 is an expensive proposition. There are a few out there that have completed the swap. One of which is running NMRA MM. You might want to look into that. Basically everything you have on your 2V will work on a 5.4. i.e. heads and accessories. The 5.4 block is much larger causing most of your problems.

If you are looking for parts, I would look at a f150 or Navigator site for info.

I know there are definetly issues with intake to hood clearance. You will need a custom hood due to the height of the intake. They did this very same swap in an issue of Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords a few months back. Maybe try their website. I wish I new what month it was in. Sorry. I know they had to do some custom work to shoehorn the 5.4 in their stang.

hmmm no. They make intake adapters for the stock PI intake. Since the deck height is higher, it will move the location of the heads.

the one the done in mm&ff was a lightning motor with a blower. it is possible to do the swap. It depends on how far you want to go with this because a 5.4 4v is capable of a lot of power. I would buy a bigger hood(cowl about 3 inch) and a tubular k-member. also I would go with a fast engine management so that you could fine tune it. there is a lot of stuff. I would put this post in modular depot if you are really serious because md I think has some people that has performed the swap like this already.

those are real good numbers. I have been wanting to build a motor but I haven't decided yet. I want something with a bigger bore but I reckon I will have to wait.
