mobil 1 super syn 5w30, thats all my stang gets. the 5w20 is too thin for my taste.

i would probably use Amsoil or Redline, but i have fundamental problems with buying motor oil on mail order. also, you can get 6 quarts of mobil 1 at Costco for $24.

I use exactly 7 quarts of the finest 5w30 that Mobil 1 has to offer. I believe the manual calls for 5w20 which looks like your pooring beer in your engine.

I use syntetic Royal Purple 10w 30 7 qts with moroso pan. You should use 6 qt with a stock pan.

Mobil 1 5w-30 and Motorcraft filter here your 2000 GT should take 5 qts. the 01+ GTs seem to take about 6.25 qts to fill. Just fill yours up w/ 5qts and then check the dipstick. Adjust accordingly. Too much oil if horrible for the motor.

Will be filling with Mobil 1 15w50 next time I change before drags this summer. Mobil 1 15w50 is the best for use with nitrous in the summer.

Technically, the warmer the climate, the thicker the oil you should use. Oil thins out in warmer weather from the extra heat, causing it to not lubricate as well. In my old Porsche I would run 20w50 in the summer and 15w40 in the winter (yea, I drove it in the winter ). Also, 5w20 synthetic does not have the same thickness as 5w20 conventional (what the manual is referring to). This is why the 2000 Cobra R had the badge for 5w30 Mobil 1...not because it was an "R" but because it was referring to the thinner synthetic oil.

Amsoil (The "25,000 mile" oil - not the 7,500 mile oil) 5w30...and an Amsoil Super Heavy Duty oil filter.

Btw... I won't be doing 25,000 mile oil changes. Probably closer to 10,000 miles?

The best deal for good quality oil and filter is right at your Ford Dealer. The Ford oil is produced by Conoco and is semi-synthetic. On the website www.bobistheoilguy.com you will see that the Ford 5w-20 and Motorcraft filter are truly a good quality product. Here in Canada, Mobil 1 is 7.99 a litre or quart. You can get the Ford oil for 2.50 Litre or quart. Change it every 3 to 5K and you will have no problems. When I tried the Castrol 0w-30 Synthetic, I lost 50Km or 30 miles per tank on average and the car was slower. Mobil 1 5w-30 pours thin so it is a good alternative. Why spend the extra money for nothing.
