Electrical 4.6 Starter In A 5.0

Yep ive seen this subject beat to death before....But not the way i want to beat it....

My question is could the gear and aluminum housing be swapped from the old starter to make the 4.6 starter work? I did something similar to make a v8 Mustang starter work on a v6 Explorer.
