hey whats up. i have a 97 Cougar XR7 and I have been planning what to do for a while. As far as the engine and drivetrain, any mustang part is a direct swap exept for things like headers, cold air intakes, etc which are dependent on the engine bay size etc. the MN12 has a real damn tight bay, i htink worse than a mustang. the only one i have seen worse is the ls1 in the f body.

they have great stuff. one of the big things for our cars is to do the Pi head swap to the current 4.6L heads. Our cars see 60-7o hp jumps. cost you a grand if you can do it yourself. i am going to try for exhaust this month and underdrive pullies. then do cold air intake, trak lok rear swap, 3.73 gears, and might even go for a PI stallion torque converter to wake the car up. also look into doing the j/mod. it is a modification of the valve body which speeds up the shifts in the 4R70W. you can pretty much treat these cars liek mustangs, just a little overweight compared to the stang.
