4 cyl to V8 ignition/wiring options??

So here is what I have going on,,, I have an 86 coupe former 4 banger with a non-HO 302 carb' swap (no idea what the engine came out of, no a/c). I want to strip all the non essential wiring under the hood. This will be a auto-cross track car not a daily driver, but I will not be trailering it so it has to be reliable enough to get me to and from the track.
Right now it has a EFI distributer (not sure how it even runs). Its all spaghetti under there and probably a fire hazard.
What are my options?

So what I have gathered this EFI distro is running on "limp home mode" and needs to go in the trash.
Who makes a drop in HEI system? Pros vs. Cons? Or should I get a Duraspark and ignition module out of a 85?
