40 series dronemasters?!?!

I am going on mon day to have my 40 series flowmaster put on. the guy at the shop told me it woudl probley be about the same to just get the mufflers and weld them in to the stock place. I was wondering if there was anythign i could do to not get them to drone. I hear that some peopel are installing some kind of 1 inch wider pipe to stop them from the drone. This was in this forum a while back but i wanted to get some more input on it. Also your thougths on the weld ins rather than the cat back? take in to account the cat back is 300 dollars more.

If the drone bothers you that much, get some dynomat for the trunk.

I already have dyna matt for my trunk. that way my system does not sound like some ricer. This will help it from the drone also? sweet i did not know that.

The drone of Flows is not that big of a deal. Beats the hell out of sounding like a GM or an import (which is exactly what some other mufflers sound like to me). Don't hang out at 2K and it really isn't a bother. Get gears and you'll hardly ever hear it.

will the weld ins work just as good as a cat back or what is tha advantage of a cat back for 300 bucks more?

Drone never really bothers me, sometimes i drive right in the sweet spot for it on purpose just to hear my car. I think it sounds good.

I also have a pair of 40 series flowmasters that i am debating on welding in. I got them for free. I don't plan on doing any mods to my GT so i'm not gonna bother with a cat-back.

The cat0-back would prob give you a little more power since the bends are mandrel bent and are not pinched like the stock exhaust would be. On a stock car, i doubt you would notice anything more than a couple HP. If yu plan on modding the car somewhat, i'd go cat-back. If you are gonna keep it pretty near stock, just weld in the muffs

Yea i am just gonna weld them in. Then if i get high tech later i will decide what i want to do. i am not gonna throw down 6 grand for a s/c. i do not use the car on the dyno and watch the numbers all the time i just want it to sound decent when i drive it. so 300 bucks more for a cat back does not seem like it is worth it for me. just my 2 cents. any of you peopel have any other reasons to go with the flowmaster cat back instead of the weld ins on the 40 series deltas. what does the delta mean? which sounds better? Deltas or the normal super 40's or the 40's ? what is the diffrance? thanks in advance.

The deltas and regular 40s sound the same, but the supers are supposedly quieter - go with the regular 40s or delta 40s for the classic sound.
The American Thunder Catback comes with deltas, by the way.

Actually, the American Thunder catback comes with Super 40's.

I have the American Thunder Catback with the Delta 40's I love the sound. Drone is not that bad at all. A little bit on the freeway in 5th gear around 70-75, but I personally love it.

Also, did hear from a friend who just recently got the A/T Catback. He said it now comes with the new super 40's and that's what he got. I think they are louder like the Original 40's series

Must have just changed because when i got mine it wasn't like that.

Delta flow is supposed to cut down on the drone a bit...there really isn't much difference.

Thats what I was saying. I have the Delta 40's with my A/T catback but a friend of mine (who posts on here) just got the A/T catback and says his are the Super 40's and that is what they are using now.

Regular 40 series are louder. The Delta's are only a tad quieter.

Delta 40's are designed to be more quiet inside the vehicle.
