When I rebuilt my old combo I kinda got cheap when it came to heads, so now my question is...Could I hit 400 FWHP with a good set of Alum heads with my combo ?

306ci
Forged Eagle Rods
Forged Eagle Crank
Probe Forged pistions (.30 over)
'69 Windsor Heads (no porting, just freshened up)
Lunati 51014 cam
Crane 1.6 RR
Preformer RPM intake
Built Holley 750 DP
Holley Blue Pump
BBK 1 5/8 shorty headers ( full offroad exhaust)
MSD 6AL
No smog, AC , ect...

I'd get the AFR 185's. I've heard 400 N/A is alot easier to come by with a carb. Yeah you'll make tons on power on a 306 with AFR 185's I might get a 3 inch exhuast If I were you. I've seen EFI 306's with 185's make 400FWHP in magazines so I think you got it.
When I build my motor im going carb kinda the same set up as you. Gonna turbo it trying to save up for a Dart block or 302R?

Hey Trophy I forgot to mention about the block, it is the R302. I'm kicking my self in the ass for not spending some $ and gotten good heads. I put all this money into the motor and then I put the 351 heads on it. I built the motor myself and I didnt want to wait for the heads, now I wish I would have.

 Your not messing around, are you gonna boost it or run N/A you already got the forged bottom end. Those blocks are sweet you could run 800 HP and not even sweat it.

I run it now N/A. I was thinking of some juice (125 shot or so) in the future but for now I'm fine. :) The block is a nice peice, lots of meat everywhere. The only problem was the wait on the block, like 4 months!! When I first started planing out my combo I wanted something strong that would last time...I think I went over kil... l
