400m is totally different than a 351W but the same as a 351M. It's a much larger, heavier and uses the same bellhousing bolt pattern as a 429/460.

So would this not be a good motor to build for my car?

I've seen a couple threads on here talking about 400m's in foxes. Do a search and you might be able to find 'em. If I was going to go to the work fo swapping in a 400, I'd probably just go with a 460.

I woudl go allt he way to 460 if you are gonna spend money on big block. the 400m is not that great and you will need to do some pretty significant modifications to install including pan change (oil pickup as well) trans tunnel clearance for C6 (C6 heavy power robbing trans) and dirveshaft sense the C6 is longer then C4 or t5. Also need some swap headers and new exhaust and motor mount bracket kit for big block. If you like the idea of the carb 400 go with cleveland setup which uses all same stuff as small block for install and will jsut need different pan and exhaust.

Had one, or i should say 3 in my old ford pickup, horrible engines that have no freaken oil pressure, even with high volume pumps.

don't do it

I didnt find out that a 460 would bolt right up until after i got rid of it, oh well.
