408ci parts list....what's missing, what's wrong?

Looks like I'm bailing out on the 408. The cost just got to out of hand. Besides my family would like to ride with me not shake them out of the car at idle. Good luck man.

So Vib, what are your plans now?

Machining, tolerances, clearances, quality is everything....

So if it is built right the first time and I treat the engine well I should have no problems...right?

Well the only thing wrong with my stock block is number 8 needs new rings. I'm thinking of just taking the stock block out and have it stuffed and stroked with light weight internals. Green94 5.0 has some Stage III TFS twisted wedges, TFS Stage I cam that I'm thinking about throwing on. At this point I just want the car driveable without shaking all over at idle. Also going to do a tubular K-member and coil overs is money permits. The 408 after purchasing the crate motor and all that just got overly expensive.

Joe, why dont you settle on something in the middle of those 2 extremes, like a 331 short block?
You have the heads and intake, and you wouldnt have to modify the hood, headers or that stuff. H3ll, you could even keep the blower, but you could still sell it to finance the engine. You would still be making 400 and have REALLY driveable car that you could GET ON anytime.

Hey Rick, thanks for looking out for me! :nice: There is alot of people on the Corral that have high cube small blocks and alot of good info to give also.

i want to upgrade to the 90mm throttle body.and i want to upgrade to larger than a 76 mm mass air. i am running a 351 w with afr 205's. what size mass air would be recommended, and if i upgraded to a 86-93 style tb would i need to use an 86-93 style inlet tube?
