Does anyone out there have any experience with the G-Force 600 T-5? Can anyone attest to the strength of it?

I don't want to modify my trans tunnel which is why I am not opting for a Tremec.

http://www.modularfords.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9952

The were not only not pleased with the parts but customer service was bad...

I am in the same boat, need something that will handle upto 600hp in my 67.

Yeah, and when you read the response you get the other side. I've heard both sides for some time now. In the end they make performance transmissions and if your going to abuse them over their limits they are going to give no matter what they are.

agreed, and several magazines also have done reviews and have nothing but good to say.

I guess I should note that I will be buying a G-Force shortly here as I managed to pick up a 351W for nothing. Now I can put it all together.

And there was no chance that they were whoring to an existing or potential advertiser, right?

I guess we should ask how much hp/torque this 408 is going to have? I don't see it haveing enough, NA of course, to blow a gforce unless its pure race.

I would like the 5 speed (overdrive). I have a toploader already. Just wanted to hear some good news about the G-force T-5 for a 450HP 408W.

If that 450fwhp I think going the f-force route you'll be ok. Just talk to them on the phone and tell them all about your car and what you intend to do with it and follow their instructions and I think you'll be fine. I would say if you go much over that though you'll need a top loader or a hardcore auto.

Modify the trans tunnel.

I have spent the last couple of weeks and I just spent the entire morning today mulling over this exact same decision myself. I have spoken to Gforce, D&D automotive (Tremec Dealer), Richmond, 2 or 3 times each and today I decided to go with and ordered the TKO 600. Money was not the issue. The full tilt GForce with the reinforced case is pushing $3500 and you get 500 ft lb torque rating. I didn't want to cut my floor either but after I priced the TKO at D&D for $1650, (rated at 600 ft lbs) AND my local Mustang shop will strip my interior, fit the trans, cut and weld the floor, cut my driveshaft, fab the crossmember, install it, reinstall my interior............for $1000. Well, that made my decision a lot easier AND I will have the benefit of not having to ever worry about my trans.........what's THAT worth?

Modify trans tunnel

Chris Barton,

I'm from Riverside, Ca. Good to hear from you. Moved out here 5 years ago...

Just to clarify, what year is your Mustang? If it is a 65 - 66 and you ever decide to go this route, let me know. I'd like to see some pics. From what I gather the trans tunnel will only need to be raised an 1-1.5 inches or so and that new TKO is supposed to be the best.

Yeah, always good to hear from someone nearby, it's a 65. And yes you are looking at 1-2". I don't expect it to really be hardly noticeable. The shop that is going to do it is JMC in san diego. They did my big brake package last year and have a pretty good reputation. They are 100 miles away so I don't suspect I will be able to take pictures but they are plenty on these links. AND these guys do it for a living so it won't be nearly as extreme. They even said they can reuse the original carpet......and TKO is the same case as a 3550 tremec so these links are accurate.

Yeah, it's more than I'd want to do.........but when I add it up, it's still cheaper to buy the tko, bell housing, new clutch assembly and have pros cut the floor than to buy the equilivant GForce trans.......

I am wanting a 5 or 6 speed for my '65 also. I spoke with someone with a G-Force for sale and he said that it was difficult to shift due to the straight-cut gears. The T-56's don't fit well without major tunnel surgery. I just bought a TKO 600 and expect somewhat minor treaks to the tunnel, but probably will have to lower the engine about an inch also. JMC has an article from a magazine outlining the installation of a TKO in a '65-'66. Let me know and I could e-mail it to you. D&D seemed the most knowledgeable of the group if you want to buy a package. Modern Driveline and JMC are other options for a complete installation.

AOD anyone ? Faster shifts with a stronger trans. Or are we talking about sticks only ? Though I'd throw that in there since OD was mentioned.
