Ah...well, now you've goated me into a response Grn.. but ehem..I will keep it civil and try to stay on topic:

FACT: For the record, this is my cousins experience with his MVB trans. As an experience, that makes it factual and not B.S. I did not say it was the "rule."

FACT: Just because you this was not your experience, does not make it ok to use that as a reason to be a sarcastic (and yea, I didn't have to play along ). Remember, everyone has a right to post their experiences without being attacked with a and smart statement. This is the reason most of us like the sn95 forum and we're not used to that round here..

well, news. the tranny guy says to bring the car in on monday and he'll see if he can make my current stuff work. if not, he says he can install either the baumannator or a manual vb, but he wats to see if he can make it work using the current computer first.

so the saga continues ...

Re: AODE with a shift kit vs. 4R70W, with the 4R you're getting wider gear ratios. That was one of the main reasons I wanted it. I'm sure with the big ol' 410 you'd like it too.

I don't think whichever of the options thrown around will be a problem; all in all it's just a swap and wiring job. At least you don't have to figure out and make your own harnesses like I had to to make the 4R work on a Fox Just figuring out what VB you want seems to be the real dilemma.

a full auto vb that has hard shifts will be just as good as the man vb especially if its tuned with the tweecer correctly.

so i'm a little confused.

this is a problem that blackvert is having because he is switching from manual to a 4r70w?

so if i was goin to use the 4r70w in my car(which is already auto) i shouldnt have this problem, right?

to use a 4R70W with our computers, you have to change some things so the computer can controll the tranny correctly. i think my installer did something wrong

I believe the AOD-E and the 4R70W are the same transmission. The difference is that the AOD-E came with the standard gear ratio vs the Wide ratio on the 4R70W (AOD-EW). After 1996 they were all wide ratio transmissions.
First Gear 2.4-1 vs 2.84-1
Second 1.47-1 vs 1.55-1
Third 1-1 vs 1-1
Fourth 0.67-1 vs 0.7-1

basically yes, but i believe he's swapping from a manual so he still has that computer. I had to put a MLPS on my setup for the 4R to work in my car. Not sure if the automatic computer read the rest or what, but that's what made all the gear lockouts and such work. Look into that.
